The lakes are some of the most peaceful places to stop in Massapequa Preserve. Waterfowl and turtles are familiar sights along the water, and the changing light gives photographers a different view with every visit.
Massapequa Reservoir
Massapequa Reservoir sits north of Sunrise Highway and south of Clark Street. DEC identifies it as a 20-acre freshwater reservoir within the preserve. Shoreline paths provide public access; boats are prohibited.
Walking by the water
Use the established paths to explore the lakes and surrounding vegetation. Give wildlife space, stay clear of anglers casting from shore and leave the banks undisturbed.
