The stream is one of the most peaceful parts of Massapequa Preserve. It runs through the wooded landscape, with places along the paths where you can pause, listen to the water and watch the wildlife.
Wildlife by the stream
Turtles, ducks and swans are among the animals we have observed around the stream and lakes. Sightings vary from visit to visit. Give wildlife room and enjoy the view from the paths.
Walking beside the water
Small stone crossings appear where the stream narrows, but use established paths and marked crossings when planning your walk. The shaded sections and changing reflections make the stream a rewarding subject for photography.
Plan a waterside walk
